Theme of the
Congress:
THE JEWS FROM
EGYPT AND THE CULTURE OF PEACE
1.
Preservation
and safeguard of the rich cultural and religious heritage of the Jews from
Egypt.
2.
Assessment of the attitude of the Egyptian society and of the
Egyptian authorities towards the Jewish population that resided in Egypt.
Attitudes of the Jews of Egypt towards Egypt today, possibility of creating and
strengthening friendly relations and stronger links, without giving up founded
claims.
3.
Possibility of
contribution of the Jews from Egypt to the promotion of peaceful relations
between Israel and Egypt, and Israel and other Arab neighbors. The utilization
of the multicultural experience of the Jews from Egypt which includes knowledge
and appreciation of Egyptian culture, as well as of European cultures, can help
to promote this aim.
4.
Strengthening
of the links between the various communities and organizations of Jews from
Egypt formed after their Exodus, as well as strengthening the links with
Israel.
5. Founding of a common International Board,
to develop activities initiated at the congress. These would include:
historical research, literary works, Internet contacts, further meetings,
visits, symposia and congresses.
