Founded  1985, Haifa  (Israel), as Friends of Literature Association . Previously referred to as International Forum of Culture and Literature for Paving Peace (IFLAC) , International Forum for the Culture of World Peace , IFLAC PAVE PEACE . Registered as a Voluntary Association, in accordance with Israeli law, 1987. Current name adopted 1999, Galilee (Israel). 'Creative Statutes' for the Millennium adopted in 2000.

 

Later, in  1999, registered in Tel Aviv as a Voluntary Association, in accordance with Israeli law, as: International Forum for the Literature and  Culture of Peace (IFLAC) 

 

Aims  Promote peace and mutual respect between people and nations; promote social, cultural and religious tolerance between people; eliminate violence in all its forms; organize peace culture researchers, writers, intellectuals and friends of literature; encourage creativity that promotes culture and peace.

 

Structure:  General Assembly (annual). Board of 7; Founder and President; 6 Executive Officers; 12 International Directors of major Iflac Branches . Subgroups include: The Bridge: Jewish and Arab Women for Peace in the Middle East (our ref K1073); League of Women Against Discrimination (LENA); Writers International and Friends of Literature and Culture Association (WIFLAC) (our ref K2019). World Center in Israel. International Branches (28): Argentina; Australia; Austria; Belgium; Bosnia-Herzegovina; Brazil; Canada; China; Egypt; France; Haiti; Hong Kong; India; Israel; Italy; Japan; Korea Rep; Mexico; Norway; Palestine; Romania; Russia; South Africa; Spain; Switzerland; Taiwan; Turkey; Uruguay.

 

17 Languages  mostly: English, French, Hebrew, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, Romanian.

 

Staff  4 voluntary.

 

All the staff is voluntary. There are 28 directors, directing the various IFLAC branches around the world.

 

Finance  Members' yearly dues: $ 25. Other sources: donations, sales of books and IFLAC Anthologies, grants; etc. New peace loving members donations from all over the world are welcome.

Activities: IFLAC  Organizes: international congresses; symposia; literary and cultural meetings (including lectures, poetry reading, story-telling, new books celebrations, interviews in the media, literary weekend seminars, cultural festivals, Jewish and Arab meetings and workshops). Events held in 'Tent of Peace' , set up 1995 in Ussifiya (Israel). Runs the 'IFLAC Peace Train’ project for children and teachers. Petitions (5): International Ban-War Petition and Campaign; Turn Off Murder on TV Project; Great Danger of the Glorification of Suicide Bombers; Compensation to the million banished Jews from Arab Countries, and the 650.000 Palestinians, Promotion Peace Between Israelis and Palestinians; Free Innocent Journalist Salah Choudhury of Bangladesh.

The founding and developing of the IFLAC “Peace Culture Network” directed by Envoy: Dr. Martha De Witt from USA.

Major Project: A GLOBAL IFLAC TELEVISION FOR PEACE CULTURE

Our main project for 2008 - 2010, is to create a powerful global “Peace Culture Television” by Satellite (PCTV) to promote a world beyond war, terror, violence, and famine, and to create bridges of understanding and respect between people and nations.

 

To attain this aim we need the urgent financial help of world institutions for creating this colossal project, and we solicit the UN, UNESCO, the World Bank, as well as peace loving governments and corporations all over the world, to help us building this gigantic enterprise, that will spread a positive culture of peace and humane values, and will function as preventive medicine, before another September 11.
